Student Service & Road Test Policy

The school identity, lesson fees and duration disclosures, licence requirements, vehicle occupants, payment and refund rules, and road-test responsibilities that apply before training.

Effective October 6, 2026

This policy summarizes the service information each student needs before training and before paying Shanaya's Driving School. Read it with the itemized booking statement, Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy, and Terms & Conditions. The itemized statement for your purchase identifies the exact services, fees, lesson allocation, and applicable terms.

1. School identity and contact information

Shanaya's Driving School provides Class 5 and Class 7 driver training. The school's public office and contact information is listed below.

  • 124-2770 Leigh Rd, Langford, BC V9B 4G1
  • Telephone and WhatsApp: +1 (250) 542-3673
  • Email: book@drivingschoolbc.ca

2. Services, fees, and lesson lengths

Before payment, the student receives an itemized booking summary or written service statement identifying each lesson, course, package, equipment item, or vehicle rental being purchased, together with its quantity, scheduled duration, fee, discounts, estimated tax, and total in Canadian dollars.

Standard and regional in-car lesson rates are currently $89 CAD for 60 minutes and $133.50 CAD for 90 minutes before GST. Salt Spring Island rates are currently $109 CAD for 60 minutes and $163.50 CAD for 90 minutes before GST. Fixed-price courses, packages, vehicle rentals, optional lessons, and promotional prices are charged at the amount shown in the itemized statement accepted before payment.

A package price is not represented as the fee for one lesson. The written statement must identify the number and scheduled length of included lessons and the fee allocation that applies to the purchase.

Prices and availability can change before a booking is accepted. Once a booking is accepted, the itemized statement and receipt record the applicable purchased amount.

3. Practice-driving time

For every in-car lesson, the written service statement provided before payment must identify both the scheduled appointment length and the actual amount of practice-driving time the student will receive.

Pickup, a vehicle safety check, lesson briefing, breaks, and the end-of-lesson review are not described as practice-driving time unless the student is actually driving. Students should not complete payment if the practice-driving time for an in-car lesson is missing from their written statement; contact the school for a corrected statement first.

4. Payment, receipts, and completed services

Payment is due according to the checkout total, invoice, or written installment schedule accepted by the student. The school provides an itemized record of the services or vehicle rental charged and a receipt for each payment.

A lesson, road-test preparation session, or vehicle rental that has already taken place is not refundable. Cancellation, late-notice, missed-booking, package-withdrawal, credit, and refund rules are set out in the Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy.

5. Driver licence requirements

A student must hold a valid driver licence that permits the practical training being provided. This may be a valid B.C. learner or driver licence, or another valid licence that may lawfully be used for the student's circumstances.

The student must present the licence before the first in-car lesson and carry it during every practical lesson. Training cannot proceed if the student cannot produce a valid licence or if a restriction prevents the planned lesson.

The school may record the licence details needed for enrolment, training records, or an authorized road-test booking. Students must never give the school their ICBC security keyword.

6. People in the training vehicle

A normal driving lesson has two people in the school vehicle: the enrolled student, who receives the training, and the licensed driving instructor, who teaches, observes, and intervenes when needed for safety.

Parents, guardians, friends, and other observers do not ride along during ordinary lessons. If an examiner or another person must be present for an authorized assessment, legal requirement, safety reason, or accommodation, the arrangement and that person's role must be explained to the student in advance.

During an ICBC road test, the vehicle occupants and their roles are determined by ICBC's test procedures. The school's instructor does not act as the examiner.

7. Road-test appointments and school vehicle bookings

Students should book, reschedule, and cancel their road-test appointment directly through ICBC. A booking for the school's Road Test Package or test-day vehicle is separate from the ICBC appointment, so changing one does not automatically change the other.

If the school is ever authorized to use a student's driver-licence information to assist with a road-test booking, the student must first sign a consent and release form. The school will not ask for or use the student's ICBC security keyword.

As checked October 6, 2026, ICBC asks for at least 48 hours' notice to cancel a road test and states that a $25 cancellation fee may apply without that notice. The student is responsible for confirming and following ICBC's current rule. School cancellation charges are governed separately by the Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy.

8. Student acknowledgement and policy version

Before payment, the student must be able to review this policy, the itemized booking summary or service statement, the Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy, and the Terms & Conditions. Online acceptance records the policy version and acceptance time associated with the booking.

This page is the general school policy. It does not replace the purchase-specific written statement required to show the exact selected services, actual lesson fee, applicable extra charges, practice-driving time, and refund terms before payment.
